The Craftsman Condo
It was the perfect blank canvass; large enough to stretch my creative wings, small enough that I could erase any mistakes without too much hassle. I'd already decided on the overall direction and style before we closed escrow on the place, but the execution was exhausting. Being our first "open-floor" project, there was a lot of thought put into ensuring it'd be light and bright without being sterile. So, everything would come down to our choice of flooring, since it would be the one constant throughout the place. I felt it was so important, we even sampled several laminate floors before I was sure of our choice. In fact, the concept of doing the peninsula facade sprang from all the flooring samples we didn't want to throw away. And, like this project in general, putting that thing up was much more challenging and time consuming than we'd anticipated. But we like to think our hard work and all the many many many long nights paid off wonderfully in the end.
