This is what happens when your work is your passion and, little by little, your retreat from it all --your "getaway" --becomes its own passion project. I was approached to do several remodels in Las Vegas and, for the sake of convenience, put up in a quaint little condo close to those job-sites. A simple place with comfy furniture to kick back in after a hard day's work; nothing fancy, just somewhere quiet to unwind and collect myself. But the more time I spent there working on those other projects, the harder it became to ignore 724 square foot elephant begging me for a face-lift. And why not? I was there, the materials were all there, and we weren't talking about anything major. Truth be told, the challenge of remaking a place while keeping existing furniture and carpet was a nice distraction from the "day-job." This was no grand redesign, this is just what happens when you bring your work home with you and put it to use.
